Awakening is one of the many gameplay mechanics for DNF Duel and is universal across the cast.

Overview

Once a character's health amount is reduced to a certain thereshold during a round (which is indicated by the bigger portion of the HP Gauge), their Awakening will automatically activate, granting them a passive skill. Each passive ability is unique to every character, balancing out the character's weaknesses or enhancing their strengths to become more of a threat. It can vary between either character, may it be either enhancing their MP Gauge (eg. Dragon Knight, Enchantress), their damage (eg. Striker, Ghostblade), or something completely unique to them (eg. Hitman).

Upon reaching Awakening, a character can also be capable of using their Awakening Skill. However, it has the drawback of removing the Awakening buff for the character for the rest of the round, so it should be used with caution, as it can be a vital tool to secure the round.

Cube Selection

With the upcoming update that adds Spectre as a playable character, a new Cube system will be implemented. It gives players the chance to select between two different types of Cube: Clear Cube and Gold Cube.

Clear Cube activates when the opponent reaches 50% of their HP or below. This makes the character's Awakening Effect happen sooner, but having a weaker effect in comparison to the Gold Cube.

Gold Cube functions identical with the original Awakening system from previous versions, activating when the character's HP reaches 30% or less. Alongside the standard Awakening effect, it also includes the more powerful version of the character's Awakening.

Crusader Merciful Strength Increases Defense, Guard Break Resistance, and White Damage Recovery Speed.
Ghostblade Phantasmal Binity Increases damage dealt to opponents.
Launcher Overheat Increases the amount of White Damage inflicted when an attack is guarded against.
Troubleshooter Handle Explosives Enhances all MP skills.
Swift Master Wind Master Increases movement speed.
Enchantress Favoritism Greatly reduces the passive MP consumption of Showtime!
Lost Warrior Logic of the Dimensions Enhances MP moves and the effect of Time Stop.
