The Grappler is one of the male playable characters in the base game of DNF Duel, being one of the original 5 characters revealed along with the game's announcement. He is based on the Grappler sub-class of the Male Fighter in Dungeon Fighter Online.

Story

A Fighter of the Black Pearl Ring that traveled across the country while storming into and challenging dojos that had earned much renown to head-on duels.

He believes that fighting against powerful opponents is the essence of martial arts, and does not accept anything other than the will to become stronger. However, he tends to avoid challenging dojos of good standing. Rather, he targets corrupt dojos that extort offerings under the pretense of providing protection, smashing them on his travels.

Now, he continues his training in the deepest mountain valleys, hiding from the Suju Kingdom's ransom on his head.

Character Overview

A melee character that can overwhelm opponents with grabs and assaults at close range. Grappler's commands can be charged to change the effect of some moves, while his powerful grabs and rushing techniques force his opponents down. During Awakened, damage taken is reduced while guarding, allowing for a steadfast fight.

  • HP Gauge increased to 1100 from 1050.
  • Guard Gauge increased to 1250 from 1100.
  • During Awakened Effect, alongside increased defense charged MP skills can now be canceled with other MP skills even on whiff. This includes the follow-up motion of Seismic Crash additionally.
  • Crouching A launches opponents higher when hit on airborne opponents.
  • High Kick's untech time has been extended.
  • The standard and hold versions of Air Steiner has reduced landing recovery.
  • Slam Kick's standard version can now cause a ground bounce even without a counter hit.
  • Magnumsault's standard version has increased blockstun and reduced damage scaling for combos. Furthermore, the move's second hit now launches opponents higher.
  • Seismic Crash's counter hit timing has been moved up.
  • Shoulder Tackle's standard and hold versions have reduced recovery; the standard version now launches opponents highwards upon counter hit.
  • The knockdown time for Break Down's hold version has been increased; the aerial variant of the hold version has reduced recovery.

  • The untechable time casued by Magnumsault's charged version has been reduced.
